MALACHI 3:16 – THEN THOSE WHO FEARED THE LORD TALKED TO EACH OTHER, AND THE LORD LISTENED AND HEARD. A SCROLL OF REMEMBRANCE WAS WRITTEN IN HIS PRESENCE CONCERNING THOSE WHO FEARED THE LORD AND HONORED HIS NAME. (NIV)

Has there been a time where there was a conversation about something in private, and then that issue comes to the surface or is addressed in public? That is because God has been in that conversation. We may say God can hear and see all things done and said in secret; while that may be true, there is a difference when He actually listens to our conversations. He responds to such conversations just like He would to prayers, even when we may not necessarily address them as that. This can happen when those who fear the Lord talk to each other.

This verse highlights the importance and benefits of godly relationships. God honors those who choose to fear and serve Him, and because of that, He has the power to even intervene in our conversations. Some things may not be mentioned in prayer, but God will address them because they were mentioned in conversation. It is time to assess who is around us to have such conversations with. Conversations that will bring life and freedom, because God is listening and hears them. May this truth set us free as we embrace godly relationships and experience God’s goodness in deeper levels.

PRAYER

Mighty God, You exist before the start of time and You will continue to exist after the end of time. You know all things, You see all things and You hear all things. Nothing is too far from Your reach. In Your greatness, Your pour down Your endless supply of mercy and grace, so that we can get closer to You. We thank You for that, and we ask You to keep helping us walk in obedience, as You transform us into the people You created us to be. Thank You for the gift of relationships, for we cannot do this life on our own. Thank You for the wisdom to choose the right people in our lives. We thank You for the godly relationships that we already have, help us acknowledge and value them for what they are. We ask that You remove every ungodly relationship in our lives, as You draw a boundary and separate us from what is not from You. Help us not fight this as You do so. We invite more godly relationships as we make room from those You separate us from. May our conversations be seasoned with grace, truth, wisdom and love, as You listen and hear all that is said. As You transform us through Your grace to be good stewards of godly relationships, may You alone get all the glory and praise.
We pray all this in Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
